Child Care Subsidy in Nebraska

What is the childcare
subsidy?

The Child Care Subsidy Program is a payment that helps pay for part or all of your childcare costs. This benefit supports over XYZ families in Nebraska today. If you are eligible for this benefit, and your childcare provider is approved, you can apply today!

1- Find out if your childcare provider accepts the subsidy

Determine who your child care provider is and make sure they’ll accept subsidy. If they’re not already approved by the subsidy office, you’ll need to refer them, and they’ll need to take some action.

2- Gather the information that you need

You’ll need some information about your family, such as:

  • Monthly income for all members of your household

  • Some details about your childcare provider, such as the full name of the daycare

  • ETC

3- Apply!

Decide how you’re going to apply

4- Stay in touch with DHHS

One the DHHS has reviewed your application they will schedule a time to better understand your needs, before making a final determination about the results. During your interview, you will have the opportunity to ask more questions. It is possible the DHHS will also ask you for some extra documents.

5- Watch & Wait

It will typically take up to XYZ days/weeks, you will likely receive an answer by mail.

This approval letter will have your: co--pay, length of time, etc.

6- Payment

Once you are approved, your childcare provider will be paid directly by the Nebraska DHHS.
